What is a Chantilly Cake you might be wondering? It’s a delicious delicacy that originated in Hawaii around the 1950s. Essentially, the filling is like that of a German Chocolate Cake (but without coconut in it). If you’ve ever been to Whole Foods, or an Organic Grocery Chain, chances are you’ve seen this multi-layer gourmet dessert!!
We could not get enough of it, so naturally, had to make one of our own! We used a rich, but light and fluffy yellow cake that’s one of our chef’s favorites! Then created a delicious filling and frosting using our Rodelle Vanilla Beans to give it a really sweet flavor and creamy texture!
Next, comes the fruit. Feel free to use your favorite, or what ever is in season. We chose blueberries and strawberries, to get a delicious complimentary flavor, as well as a beautiful pop of color. We made sort of a syrup out of the fruit, using the excess fruit juice, as well as some orange juice to keep this dessert from getting overly sweet.
