It’s summertime meaning kids are on summer vacation! As we all are going on road trips, join camps, and begin to do more social activities, it means we’re going to need more tasty snacks. If you’re looking into making a few homemade snacks this year and are needing a bit of inspiration, below we have a few fun yet easy kid friendly treats that can be prepped for summer activities. You can have them get involved in the prepping process too and make it a family baking/cooking time!
Homemade whipped cream is an easy recipe plus it’s delicious. This dairy free and gluten free recipe only requires 2-3 ingredients and can be used to top off bowls of fruit for the family, any beverages like milkshakes or hot cocoa (or coffee for the adults 😉), and cakes. Once you’ve baked your own fresh graham crackers – it’s really hard not to want to make them again! Fun, chocolatey, and homemade, they can be eaten as a light snack for little ones or use them for those s’more nights. What’s nice about making them homemade is that you don’t have to create just square crackers – any cookie shapes you have on hand will work! You can even get the kids to help with the cookie cutting.
These take a bit more effort but they are SUPER healthy and the perfect sweet treat. We include three unique fruit roll up recipes to try. You can use either a dehydrator if you have one on hand or the oven. Won’t lie, it feels like we’re tricking kids because they are as good if not better than the store bought ones!
Crockpot recipes are a life saver for busy families. All you need to do for this is peel some apples, add the rest of the ingredients listed into the crockpot and let it cook for a few hours. Tada, you’ve made yourself some yummy homemade applesauce!
For those movie nights or sleepovers where you’ve got a lot of kids hanging out – this is the recipe to bake. It’s a delicious cookie dough made with brown sugar, butter, hearty oats, and creamy natural peanut butter, and whichever other candy toppings you want to add (we like chocolate chips and M&Ms). It’s easy, fun, and everyone will love it – parents included!
Summer heat means smoothie mornings! If you have an early day ahead of you, this smoothie will keep you energized and fueled until your next meal plus your older kids for those sports activities! If you’re needing it a bit more sweet – we recommend honey, agave, or a bit of monk fruit.

It’s fun to mix up your own trail mix and add all the ingredients that you like. This recipe is rich in antioxidants, fiber, and protein. Our cocoa, since it’s dutched processed is less bitter and will pack a lot of flavor – especially for those of us who crave chocolate!

More of a year round sort of treat but super delicious. If you’re wanting to make these even sweater, add some chocolate chips into the mix towards the end when you’re mixing the popcorn and caramel sauce so they don’t melt fully. They also don’t have to be formed into balls – we’ve also made them as bars by spreading them out in a flat baking dish lined with parchment paper. Spread in pan when it’s still a bit warm. Once it’s cooled – cut them into squares with a knife.
