This is a fresh twist on the most classic of cocktails. The old fashioned has been quenching thirsts for over 200 years, and this vanilla variant proves why it’s still one of the best drinks you can make.

Old Fashioned History

The Old Fashioned is a true icon in the cocktail world, beloved for its simple yet bold combination of whiskey, sugar, bitters, and a citrus twist. But for those looking to add a layer of warmth and complexity to this classic, the Vanilla Old Fashioned is a must-try. This delicious twist on the traditional recipe infuses the drink with the smooth, aromatic flavor of vanilla (we used vanilla paste to easily add beautiful flecks of vanilla beans), creating a rich and luxurious cocktail perfect for any occasion.

How to Create a Vanilla Old Fashioned Cocktail

Crafting the perfect Vanilla Old Fashioned Cocktail is all about balance. The vanilla introduces a subtle sweetness that beautifully complements the robust whiskey, while the classic notes of bitters and orange zest keep the drink feeling authentic. The result is a drink that feels familiar yet elevated, with an extra dimension of vanilla flavor that adds depth to every sip.

To create this refined take on the Old Fashioned, start by making your own simple syrup – this extra step takes your cocktail to the next level. You can make the simple syrup with Vanilla Paste, per the recipe, or substitute vanilla extract or gourmet vanilla beans in a one-to-one ratio.

The Vanilla Old Fashioned is ideal for those who enjoy a classic cocktail with a modern twist. Whether you’re an Old Fashioned purist or just looking to explore new flavor combinations, the Vanilla Old Fashioned Cocktail is sure to become a new favorite. Its balance of rich vanilla and whiskey creates a drink that’s both sophisticated and approachable, offering a fresh spin on a time-honored tradition.
