Vanilla Bean Crème Brulée Recipe

There is nothing like the taste of Crème Brulée. It's so simple and classic- sure to be a holiday dessert favorite! Our Rodelle vanilla's really make this recipe a taste of heaven.

Ingredients

  • 1 pint heavy whipping cream
  • ¼ cup raw sugar
  • 4 egg yolks
  • 3 Rodelle Vanilla Beans
  • 4 additional tbsp raw sugar

Substitutions:

  • 3 Rodelle Vanilla Beans with 1 tbsp Rodelle Pure Vanilla Extract
  • Raw sugar with Rodelle Vanilla Sugar

Directions

  • Preheat the oven to 300° Fahrenheit.
  • In a large saucepan warm the heavy whipping cream (do not boil).
  • In a mixing bowl combine the egg yolks, raw sugar and Rodelle Vanilla Beans, split and scraped. Whisk them together.
  • When cream has scalded, remove from heat. Beat the yolk mixture slowly while adding the warm cream ½ cup by ½ cup until all the mixture is evenly mixed.
  • Pour the mixture into the custard cups (5 oz each approx) or ramekins.
  • Place the cups in a rectangular baking dish.
  • Pour water into the baking dish up until ¼” of the rim of the cups.
  • Cover the baking dish loosely with aluminum foil.
  • Place the baking dish in the oven for 70 minutes to 90 minutes.
  • Once cooked, let the custards sit until they’ve cooled to room temperature and then place them in the fridge.
  • Once totally firm and cold, make a caramel sauce and pour on custards or powder the top of the custards with raw sugar and blowtorch them carefully (be extremely careful not to burn yourself).
